Radenthein, the neighbouring village of Bad Kleinkirchheim, is also known as the ‘city of garnets’ in the Nockberge mountains. Until recently, the popular gemstones were still mined here. Visitors still find this gemstone everywhere in town. Those, who are interested in taking home the beautiful red carbuncle as a souvenir, have a vast range of nice presents: from jewellery (available at the jewellery shop Zieser) to regional ‘garnet delicacies’ (available at the Gasthof Metzgerwirt - ‘garnet chocolates’, ‘garnet ham’, and ‘garnet wine’)

KASLAB’N Nockberge cheese dairy
For two years an organic cheese dairy has been another attraction in Radenthein which is worth a visit. Organic farmers use their milk to produce savoury cheese products. Everyone who wants to experience the production of cheese is very welcome at the KASLAB’N Cheese Diary. Furthermore, it is the best place to purchase local farm products

SHILLING private brewery
You can find another small innovative company in Radenthein/Untertweng. In 2013 the owner of the Gasthof Gartenrast started to brew his own beer, the ‘Shilling-beer’. The modern brewery corresponds to the state-of-art technology. With energy generated from local wood chips, hop and malt are turned into various beer creations. At the exhibition room you are invited to a tasting.

The following services are included in the rate:

  • Travel in modern luxury coach with air conditioning
  • Tour with an English-speaking guide at the KASLAB’n cheese dairy (approx. half hour) with cheese tasting
  • Tour with an English-speaking guide at the SHILLING private brewery with tasting of three different types of beer (approx. 1 hour)
